What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

A free consultation followed by a quote. Then an engagement letter for both of us to sign. As soon as the first agreed upon payment goes through, I begin working on your books! I'm always available to answer questions and coordinate with you on your bookkeeping.

What is the consultation process?

It begins with a phone call or scheduling an appointment. The consultation can be over the phone, on a Zoom call, or even in person. After discussing what you're looking for in a bookkeeper, you'll provide access to your QuickBooks Online file (if you have one) and your 3 most recent bank and credit card statements (more if you're looking for catchup or cleanup). After that, I will take a look at the work and call you again to give you a customized quote.

If you're okay with the price, we can move forward with us signing an engagement letter that clearly details what services I'll be providing and for how much per month. Then the onboarding process continues, where you'll provide the best, most secure way for me to access bank/credit card statements so I can do the month work.

We'll be in touch a lot for the first month or two, after that, the services will be so smooth they'll feel automated. You can call, text or email me at any time during the process with questions or concerns.

How do you set your fees?

Fees are based on how much work is anticipated each month. Basic bookkeeping prices are based on the number of bank accounts and number of transactions per month. You can visit our Pricing page for custom pricing. We also charge a monthly flat rate, so your pricing is predictable and billed at the same time every month. So even if there a bit of extra work in a certain month, you'll pay the same price.

Your prices are high compared to other bookkeepers I've hired or employed. How come?

Generally bookkeepers perform data entry. They'll code transactions and reconcile bank accounts and stop there. My services go above and beyond basic data entry, including unlimited phone and email support, improving profitability, and working with you to streamline your business to be more efficient. You can also expect sales tax filing, and any report you need at any time, including year-end, tax-ready financial statements for your accountant.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes we do! We offer a couple of different kinds.

We offer a clean-up discount (50% off) if you sign up for monthly or quarterly bookkeeping services. We also offer a catch-up discount (50% off) if you sign up for monthly or quarterly services. When using one of our pricing calculators, make sure to check the box that offers 50% off to see how much you can save by signing up for regular bookkeeping services.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with all types of small business, including restaurants, construction companies, beauty salons, retail, trucking, law firms, pest control services and more.

I need bookkeeping services, but my previous bookkeeper did part of the year. Can you pick up where he/she left off?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Since I will be responsible for completing the year-end, I can't rely on prior bookkeepers' work to complete my own. I have to begin at the start of your fiscal year (usually January 1st). Of course, I will be providing the clean-up discount of 50% off that I offer to anyone who signs up for monthly services.

I need some office work done. Will you come to my business location?

No. My services are 100% remote and I don't do office work, because that takes away from the focus on bookkeeping. We can however meet in person at any time, if you wish. I have an office location, so just give me a call if you'd like to meet in person for any reason.

How long does a clean-up or a catch-up take?

A thorough clean-up of 12 months takes about one month to complete, or 20 to 30 hours (If it takes even longer, you won't be billed higher than the quoted price). Catch-ups take about 2 to 3 weeks for 12 months. This timeframe is based on the assumption that all documents/bank access are provided immediately by the client, so there's no delay.
